Cocktail of the week: week 7 Blue Bandit

So I did not end up going to a bar. Friday night I went out with some girlfriends and was going to order a martini, but I forgot. To be perfectly honest I was in a mood so I just wanted to get out of the resturant as fast as I could. So not that my friends read this but I am sorry for being a bitch, and odd on Friday night. So today is Sunday and it's still week 7 so here it is...Blue Bandit!!!
30mls of Gin
30mls of White Curacao
15mls of Blue Curacao
ice
Shake all of ingredients in a cocktail shaker and serve..

Yeah I have no idea what this taste's like. It was Sunday morning and even I have my limits of when booze should be drunk. Also the thought of all booze and no mixer that is not a shot makes me a little queezy.
It looked pretty though

Cocktail of the week: white Christmas

Well I'm a little bit late in getting this up. My computer is slowing starting to drive me insane. But here it is:
YUMMO....White Christmas
1 litre of frozen passionfruit sorbet
750ml sparkling white wine, chilled
Place half of the wine and sorbet in a blender and blend until mixed.
Pour in to 4 glasses, and repeat with the other half and pour into another 4 glasses!!

I however hate passionfruit and only had lemon lime sorbet in my fridge, so I used that. Oh and I actually did'nt rad the instructions till after I took the photo and then realized that I had to blend all of the ingredients.
I just mixed it all up and it tasted nice. Actually my mum and I usually drink this every Christmas evening while playing bingo with my kids ( Christmas tradition's got to love 'em). So I was thinking too easy when I saw it. Oh have party pig spoon as well because I did'nt want to break my very good cocktail glass.
Next week Im hitting the pub, hear that Jo: the pub!!!

Cocktail of the week, week 5: Sizzling Santa

FAAARRRRKKKKKKK, that is all I can say about this....actually I had a friend turn up and she said YYUUCCCKKKKKKKKKKK.
This is truly horrible, sorry all you whiskey drinkers. Whiskey, sugar and boiling water is a drink made in hell.
I'm not sure who made up these drinks, some look really yummy however I seem to be picking the foul ones!!!
So 60mls ofwhiskey, 1 table spoon of honey or brown sugar and fill the rest of the glass up with boiling water.
I guess if your not well and threw a bit of lemon in with it as well it would kill off any cold your fighting. That or knock you out for a couple of hours, if you mixed it with panadol.

Cocktail a week: week 4, Guava Bliss

Well here is one photo of many, I am hoping of me and my excellent friend Jo. We were very lucky to have her and her divine children come and stay with us for a few days...
.Brown boy was happy too as her hubby came a little bit later on so he had a friend to play with as well. Brown boy was our pool boy, we tried to picture him as a cute little Havier but it did'nt work....but he was good at refilling the drinks.
Stayed in there all night while the kids watched TV and did God know's what else in the house...so it really was BLISS
So Guava bliss....this is really nice and refreshing.....hehehehehehe how can it not be with a cup of Vodka in it!!. I did halve the ingredients and it still made a jug.

So here is the recepie (the halved version) and try it...taste's great with or without the Vodka:
Half a cup of Vodka, one cup of guava juice, one cup of dry ginger ale, two table spoons of lime juice and a few drops of Angostura bitters. It also says about a quarter of a cup of mint leaves but they in my opinion are only good for getting stuck on your tounge when you try and drink. So I left them out
Mix the Vodka and guva juice, put in the fridge till needed. When ready to drink mix the rest of the ingredients and Bob's your uncle..
.well Clive is mine and not sure who owns Bob!!!

Cocktail of the week, week 3: The Perfect Gift

Ok so this is fantastic, smells and tastes like musk. I did cheat a bit and put lemonade in it to dilute it up a bit. Verrra nice!! Brown boy took a swig and decided that it could be dangerous as you would not know how drunk you would be getting as it's like drinking liquid lollies....I could drink it all night and not give a shit YUMMO!!!

Cocktail a week, week 2: Santa's Sling-Shot

This is Santa's Sling-Shot.....what can I say....who on God's green Earth thought up this I ask you???
It is shite.....might as well swear in Irish as well. Brown boy tried it and the comment was "well it's not as bad as I thought it would be". Next time IF I made this again, I would put the bubbles in first not the Guinness......waiting for the head to go down before I could pour in  the bubbles was not my best idea....anyway try it you mike like it!!!

long time between drinks....

Wow so been a very long time since I've posted.....over a year. But after seeing one of my besties recently she made me realize I'm slack. So out with the 101 things of Cobar, and in with random cocktail a week. Brown Boy( my on certain days can be named as my better half) will be my model.....
So where have I been??
Well my last post I said we bought the local hardware store..well we have just sold the local hardware store. An opportunity came up and we decided to take it. Our buisness partner has bought us out. I'ts been a crazy 14mths. Long days were unfortunatly melting into longer nights and our poor kids were being dragged into this crazy world.. So now no more take away, no more constant talks about hardware, staff and other stuff that was doing my head in. Getting my husband back on Saturdays, and Sundays. Not sure if he is going to cope with this...hehehehehe besides on him catching up on all the jobbies round the house he has NOT done in the last 14mths. I have a million NEW jobs for him.
I will however be sad at not being able to buy my washing powder at cost, and being unable  lust over any new furniture catalogues that come in...we also had the local furniture barn as well.
It is a little bitter sweet. Not if you ask my kids. They threw a "woohoo we are out of that hellhole" party for themselves...
So onwards and upwards I guess.

Devil's Rock....

Sonumber 28 is Devils rock.

All I know about this is what the sign says. Local Aboriginals consider this place EVIL!!! So we take everyone there who visits Cobar and invaribly one or more people climb all over it. It is actually a monolith. Exactly like Uluru( Ayres Rock). It's either half or a quarter is showing and the rest is under the ground. Of corse in keeping with Cobar tradition of loving the mines, there is an old mine shaft right behind it. 2nd born thinks it's funny to climb under the barbed wire and teeter on the edge of it.

#27 Netball

So first born decided she wanted to play netball this year. Was a little bit unsure on how she would go but she loved it and especially loved the idea of getting her nickname embroided on the back of her shirt. So every Saturday morning we toddled down through rain, wind, sun and wind. Think i might hae a future little netball star....The highlight of "netters" was the Fathers Day game. Lots of laughs and a little bit of cheating on the daddy's behalf!!

#26 Sheep Dog Trials

Every year Cobar hosts sheep dog trials. Every year we go down and attempt to watch and either one or both of the kids become bored. Every year it rains. This year it was raining that hard that we were only able to get there right at the end. we watched a "lady" farmer put her dog through and she did very well and just missed out going through the next round.

Hello

So have been very slack and as much as i want to finish off 101 things of Cobar Iam thinking that I may not be able to do it. Life is a funny thing. We have just bought a hardware store so things for the last couple of months have been boardering on crazy.

CLEARING SALE

So number 25 in Good, Bad and Ugly of Cobarland.....we went to a clearing sale recently. This was held at a yard in the industrial area of town, when usually they are held on a station. What is a clearing sale??? It's just a huge garage sale, where EVERYTHING is for sale.

Usually old mate the farmer or his wife has passed on or the evil banks have forclosed and it's a fire sale. There was a huge amount of stuff for sale here. The general public was invited to bring their stuff and sell it off. It was fun to watch and see what was on offer. My daughter was really taken by the way the auctioneer was talking. Farm auctioneers speak very differently from real estate ones. but I must admit I don't mind listening to them roll all of those numbers off their tounge without skipping a beat. I even struggle to work out how much is being bidded!! It was a dusty, dirty, hot and interesting day. We decided not to buy the air hockey table!! Oh and the finch and his cage went for 40 dollars

LAMB SITTING

#23 of Good, Bad and Ugly of Cobarland....hhhmmmm not sure if this is a combo of all 3!!

So we have the good as the lamb is a little girl and her name is Philly or Phillomenia. The bad is she wakes at 6am DEMANDING her milk. The ugly is that I came outside yesterday and she was so happy to see me she jumped up, and as her hooves slipped down my pants so did the poo that she had just trodden in.

But the kids are loving her and we only have her for the weekend so it's not a big drama. It has however made me realise that our rabbit Bunny Foo Foo may indeed be loney for company.

Big Cobar Sign

#22: So I thought I should do the "Big" Cobar sign. It is a must for all people passing through our humble little town to stop and take a photo of this Landmark. As you can see from the first pic it is quite large and it sits in front of the slag heap of the old original mine that was used way back last century. I would love to take credit for the night shot but that goes to my friend and fellow photography lover Tim.

#19 Cobar Races....

So number 19 in Good, Bad and Ugly of Cobarland...

The Cobar races. I don't have any fantastic photo's of this year's races. I was feeling very poorly so had hubby take the photo's. Our computer died not too long ago and ALL of my pictures went into cyberspace hell. Past photo's were of my fabulous friends looking glamourous, children looking divine and loads of red dirt swirling about as the geegee's come galloping down the main straight.

Anyway you can sort of get a glimpse of what it is about, and admire my very special hat. Because my friends it may look beautiful and sunny but as with any outback area, looks can be deceiving. The wind if you happened to be out on it was bitterly cold. Therefore one of my better purchases a felt hat!!!

#18: Motor bike riding....

So last weekend we went down to the "old Res" and went motor bike riding. This was a fun afternoon. We had just celebrated my 40th birthday and had family and friends come out from Sydney. So we thought we'd have a Sunday afternoon motorbike riding. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would be hanging out with dirt bike riders or RIDING!!!

None of us were riding crazy and I do not know how to drive a manual car so I am incapable of getting out of 1st gear on my daughter's bike. She is the same so it's not like we are breeding speed demons. Will have to get Aidan a helmet and some bike gear as he is starting to love riding. Anyway I think everyone had a nice day, a sausage sizzle was had, magazines were read, kids laughing, and not too cold weather.
